Die schönsten Orte auf Reisen sind für mich immer die, die mich total überraschen. Die ich unvoreingenommen selbst entdecken kann ohne sie vorher von Fotos aus dem Internet zu kennen. Diese Orte zu fotografieren fühlt sich für mich immer an, als wäre ich der erste, der jemals ein Foto dieses Ortes macht.

Orte wie Helgustaðanáma – eine alte Kalkspaltmine in den Ostfjorden Islands. Unspektakulär auf den ersten Blick, aber auf jeden Fall eine Reise wert. Nicht nur wegen der Kristalle die man dort sehen kann.

Ich liebe diese Orte, an denen Einheimische an mir vorbeifahren/vorbeilaufen und sich fragen, was es hier wohl zu fotografieren gibt. Manchmal werde ich angesprochen, was ich denn hier fotografiere. Wenn ich den Menschen dann die Fotos auf meinem Kameradisplay zeige sehe ich oft, wie sie erkennen, wie wunderschön der Ort ist an dem sie leben.

Die rote Hütte bei Helgustaðanáma war ein absoluter Eyecatcher und bot alles für eine ansprechende Komposition – deshalb ist dieses Foto auch eines meiner Lieblingsbilder von meiner Reise nach Island.

The most interesting places when I travel are the places that surprise me. The places I can explore without knowing them from photos on the internet. Photographing these places makes me feel like I am the first person ever taking a photo of them.

Places like Helgustaðanáma – an old mine in the eastern fjords of Iceland. Very unspectacular at the first sight but definitely worth a visit not only because of the crystals you will see there.

I love these places where residents drive or walk by looking at me asking themselves what is so interesting about this place. Sometimes they start talking to me and ask me what it is I take a photo of. When I show them my camera display I can see that they see the place from a whole different point of view.

The red hut in Helgustaðanáma was a stunning eyecatcher and offered everything you need for an interesting composition – this is why this picture is one of my favourites from my trip to Iceland.
